چکیده

Abstract The pioneer microbiome is the initial and foundational colonization of microbiological organisms within neonatal animal has lifelong implications for health performance. objective this project was to quantify various maternal environmental sources contributing piglet. Five pregnant gilts farrowed at Texas A&M University Swine Center in April 2022. Litters were a Duroc x Landrace Yorkshire composite averaged 13.4 total number born 11.4 weaned. At birth, all piglets individually identified weighed 5 per litter weighing ≥1,200 grams selected analysis. Sterile swabs used collect, duplicate, samples from farrowing crate before gilt introduction (EMPTYCRATE) after moved (FULLCRATE), birth canal during (BIRTHCANAL), rectum piglet on days 0 (prior suckling), 3, 10 post-farrowing weaning (21.6 ±.0 post-farrowing). Colostrum collected each representative sample teats into single sterile collection cup (COLOSTRUM). Swabs colostrum stored microcentrifuge tubes -80°C until sequencing. Bacterial DNA extracted, sequencing targeted V4 hypervariable region the6S rRNA gene. Statistical analyses conducted using PROC GLM REG SAS 9.4. phyla Firmicutes Proteobacteria not different between (BIRTHCANAL, COLOSTRUM) (EMPTYCRATE, FULLCRATE) (Table 1). shifted weaning. relative abundance phylum less day 3 compared with but did differ day0 Within Firmicutes, Lactobacillus Clostridium genera greater 0, 10, Proteobacteria, genus Escherichia Multiple regression indicated that BIRTHCANAL explained 51.6% variation observed (P < 0.0001), 6.5% = 0.01). (pre-suckle) 10.0% 15.6% 0.05). Finally, 58.6% 0.0001). COLOSTRUM impact > 0.10). Results indicate largely influenced by may be established age.

Maternal contributions to preterm delivery.

Preterm delivery (PTD) is a complex trait with a significant familial component. However, no specific inheritance patterns have been established. The authors examined the contribution of PTDs in both the woman's family and her partner's family to her risk of PTD. The authors linked birth information from Danish national registers with pedigree information from the Danish Family Relations Databa...

Environmental contributions to allergic disease.

The environment is a major contributor to allergic disease, and great effort is being expended to identify the chemical pollutants and allergens that make a significant impact. Exposure to high levels of ozone, sulfur dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and diesel exhaust particles is known to reduce lung function. Studies continue to delineate the role of these particles as adjuvants and carriers of al...

Environmental contributions to the allergic asthma epidemic.

Current data overwhelmingly document the existence of a worldwide asthma epidemic, although individual studies remain controversial. The epidemic is thought to involve primarily persons with allergic asthma, and many diverse theories, based on an immunopathologic understanding of disease, have recently emerged to explain this involvement. In the context of recent insights into the immune basis ...

Maternal response to environmental unpredictability

Mothers are expected to use environmental cues to modify maternal investment to optimize their fitness. However, when the environment varies unpredictably, cues may not be an accurate proxy of future conditions. Under such circumstances, selection favors a diversifying maternal investment strategy. While there is evidence that the environment is becoming more uncertain, the extent to which moth...
